Welcome to MSB 2013
On behalf of the scientific and organizing committees, we invite you to join us for the 29th International Symposium on MicroScale Bioseparations, (MSB 2013) being held at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA March 10th -14th 2013. This meeting is built upon a rich history of microscale separation science, and while formerly named HPCE to support the growing field of high performance capillary electrophoresis, has evolved to include all major microscale bioseparation techniques including CE, nanoLC, microfluidics and Lab on a Chip devices. The program covers all aspects of Capillary-Scale Separations, Hyphenated Detection Methods, Microfluidics, Fundamental Aspects of Micro/Nanofluidics and applications related to Systems Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Clinical Diagnostics, Food and Health, Nanoparticles, Industrial Chemicals and Advanced Detection & Instrumentation.
As this meeting continues to evolve, so will the format, and with MSB 2013 we will be introducing a few, yet substantial, changes. The registration will be limited in size, to establish a “smaller meeting” ambience with a focus on the vigorous scientific exchange between delegates. The presentation format will be adapted to create an extended discussion period with each paper, moderated by the Session Chair. An enhanced abstract submission requirement has been put in place to include figures, methods and a description of novelty – to assist the blind peer review process in ensuring a very high caliber of science being presented. A layer of confidentiality has been introduced to protect the conversations and presentations, creating a comfortable environment to discuss unpublished work. A historic academic venue has been chosen, creating a terrific environment for discussion as well as for the integration of a social program to carry these scientific discussions into the evenings. In addition, the top three posters presented at the meeting – will be selected for oral presentation in a special session as part of the Symposium Finale. Overall, it is the intent of this symposium to foster the exchange of ideas at the frontiers of separation science.
Please review the preliminary program as well as the list of session topics, to determine which session is most ideal for the presentation of your work. We hope you will consider choosing MSB 2013 to share your latest research, and to engage the microscale separations community in scientific dialogue around your science. We also invite you to come celebrate our 25th year of this Symposium and share your insights into the future of separation science.
Yours Sincerely,
